Demagnetization Systems

PROMAG Demagnetization Systems provide controlled and repeatable removal of residual charge from ferromagnetic components following MPI and other magnetizing processes. Designed for demanding industrial applications, they reduce residual magnetic fields to below 2 Gauss while supporting both stationary pulse and continuous conveyor-based processes.

Demagnetization Methods

PROMAG systems use two primary demagnetization approaches, selected according to component geometry, material, residual field, production requirements, and required level of demagnetization.

Pulse Decaying Demagnetization

Stationary Coil

The component remains stationary inside the coil while an alternating magnetic field is rapidly increased and then precisely reduced to zero. Microprocessor-controlled current, frequency, and waveform provide accurate control of the demagnetization process.

Low-frequency operation (down to 1 Hz) helps improve magnetic field penetration in thick-walled and complex components.

  • Deep demagnetization requirements
  • Components that cannot be continuously conveyed through a coil

Continuous Pass Demagnetization

Conveyor Pass

The component passes through a coil generating a continuous alternating magnetic field. Demagnetization occurs as the component is gradually moved out of the magnetic field.

This method is particularly suitable for high-volume production lines and automated inspection systems, providing efficient and continuous processing with lower instantaneous power requirements than pulse-based systems.

Tunnel Demagnetizer

High-power demagnetization systems combining modular generators with robust tunnel coils or proprietary rotating fields.

Tunnel demagnetizers can be integrated into automated production and inspection lines for heavy industrial components, bulk materials, and high-volume manufacturing processes.

Portable Demagnetizer

Flexible mobile systems designed for large components that require on-site or in-situ demagnetization.

Portable systems can be configured for applications such as large pipelines, bearing shells, and steam turbine rotors, without the need for major component disassembly during demagnetization.
